Child Help Foundation (CHF) is committed to saving the lives of critically ill children across India and fostering a foundation for good health. As of September 2024, CHF has successfully saved 3,949 children, providing them with life-saving medical care.
Emergency Medical Programme
India has the largest child population in the world, yet many children face life-threatening illnesses without access to adequate medical treatment. Under CHF’s Emergency Medical Programme, critical medical care is provided to underprivileged children whose families cannot afford hospital expenses. This initiative ensures that children battling cancer or congenital illnesses receive timely intervention, allowing them a chance to thrive instead of succumbing to their ailments.
CHF works closely with medical specialty departments in partner hospitals to identify underprivileged children needing emergency treatment. Appeals for assistance are also received from hospitals, families, and other NGOs. To date, CHF has supported over 3,949 children, addressing their needs through online fundraising campaigns, tele-calling efforts, and media advertisements. Regular follow-ups are conducted to monitor the recovery of patients, ensuring ongoing support even during the recuperation phase.
Addressing Educational Challenges
Children undergoing prolonged medical treatments often face disruptions in their education, with many dropping out of school due to extended absences and financial constraints. To combat this, CHF launched the Swastha Se Shiksha Programme, which bridges the gap between health recovery and continued education, ensuring that children regain their motivation to learn and rebuild their futures.
Arogya Sadan: A Lifeline for Patients
CHF’s Arogya Sadan is a dedicated facility that supports underprivileged patients traveling to Mumbai for treatments for severe conditions like Thalassemia. The facility provides lodging, meals, transportation, and additional support for patients, their families, and donors, easing the burden of treatment logistics and ensuring comfort during their stay.
Fighting Tuberculosis under Pradhan Mantri TB Mukht Bharat Abhiyan
CHF collaborates with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation (MBMC) to support tuberculosis patients under the Pradhan Mantri TB Mukht Bharat Abhiyan CHF distributes monthly ration kits to TB patients, helping strengthen their immune systems and aiding their recovery process.
Baby Feeding Centres: Safe Spaces for Mothers and Infants
To address the stigma surrounding public breastfeeding in India, CHF has established numerous Baby Feeding Centres (BFCs) across the country. These centres provide safe, comfortable spaces for nursing mothers, empowering them to travel freely without concerns about breastfeeding in public. To date, 44,973 mothers have benefitted from these havens, which uphold dignity and convenience for women and their infants.
With these multifaceted initiatives, Child Help Foundation continues its mission to create a healthier and more equitable future for underprivileged children and families across India.
